## Instapage vs Leadpages

Instapage charges by visitors and keeps A/B testing for its higher plan. Leadpages never counts traffic and tests on Grow. Which one fits your campaigns?

### Quick answer

Pick Instapage if you run paid campaigns with several people building and approving pages and you need server-side A/B testing, reusable Instablocks and in-page collaboration on its Optimize plan; pick Leadpages if you want A/B testing and dynamic text replacement on its lower Grow plan and a bill that stays the same however much traffic your ads send.

They charge for different things. Instapage prices every plan by unique monthly visitors and keeps testing off its entry plan. Leadpages never counts traffic and charges for the conversion tools instead.

**My take.** For a startup buying its own clicks with one or two people on the pages, I would start on Leadpages Grow. I would only pay Instapage's Optimize price for a team that edits pages together every week and knows its monthly traffic.

### Side by side

The two tools you are choosing between, plus one more worth knowing if you run paid ads.

### What you are really choosing between

Leadpages vs Instapage looks like a contest of editors, and both editors are good enough. The choice comes down to how each one bills you and which plan you need before you can run a test. We read both vendors' plan pages and the user threads below. We did not put ad spend through either tool.

**Instapage counts visitors.** Its [plans page](https://instapage.com/plans) gives each public tier a limit on unique monthly visitors, and Optimize can be bought with a 50,000 allowance at signup. Popups, sticky bars and unlimited published pages come with Create. A/B testing, dynamic text replacement, multi-step forms and real-time collaboration arrive with Optimize, and heatmaps and ad-to-page personalization belong to Convert, which is quoted per account.

**Leadpages counts features.** Its [pricing page](https://www.leadpages.com/pricing) answers the traffic question in one line: no cap on any plan and no overage fees. You pay for the conversion toolkit. Publishing-only plans give you pages without tests. Grow adds manual A/B testing, dynamic text, manual personalization and 1,000 lead enrichments a month, which tell you who is visiting before they fill in the form. Optimize adds Smart Traffic, click and scroll heatmaps, multivariate tests and automatic personalization.

Leadpages publishes its own [Leadpages vs Instapage page](https://www.leadpages.com/compare/leadpages-vs-instapage), and it is accurate about the visitor cap and the missing tests on Create. It presents Create as having no popups, though, and Instapage's plans page lists triggered popups and sticky bars on that tier. Treat any vendor's comparison page as sales copy.

The user threads follow the same split. In r/PPC, buyers with the budget say [Instapage has the better templates](https://www.reddit.com/r/PPC/comments/1n4031q/does%5Fanyone%5Factually%5Fuse%5Finstapage%5For%5Funbounce/), and Leadpages is [praised for its focus on sales and leads](https://www.reddit.com/r/PPC/comments/1jzqxf2/best%5Flanding%5Fpage%5Fbuilder%5Fplease%5Fhelp%5Fme/). In that second thread, long-time Instapage customers say they left once the price rose and the product moved toward enterprise accounts.

### Where each one wins and loses

#### Instapage

##### What works

* Split tests on Optimize run on the server, so visitors see no flicker and you can change the traffic split without slowing the page.
* Instablocks let you save a section once and reuse it on every page, which saves hours for anyone building pages for many campaigns or clients.
* Real-time collaboration on Optimize lets teammates and clients work on the same page instead of trading screenshots.
* The entry Create plan already includes triggered popups, sticky bars and unlimited published pages, conversions and contacts.
* PPC buyers on Reddit rate its templates above the competition, and agency commenters call it expensive but worth it.

##### What to watch

* Every public plan has a limit on unique monthly visitors, so a campaign that takes off pushes you onto a bigger tier.
* Create has no A/B testing. Testing, dynamic text replacement and collaboration all wait for Optimize.
* Heatmaps and ad-to-page personalization sit on Convert, which Instapage prices by quote.
* Long-time customers in r/PPC say the price rose as Instapage turned toward enterprise accounts.
* A 2025 Capterra reviewer found that adding outside code gets complicated because of the way Instapage loads pages.

#### Leadpages

##### What works

* You get a clean, mobile-ready landing page live in minutes. Reviewers with no coding background single out the drag-and-drop editor and the template library, and the new AI builder can draft a branded page from a prompt in about a minute.
* Every Leadpages plan includes unlimited traffic with no visitor caps. Unbounce and Instapage both cap monthly visitors on their entry plans and charge more when a campaign works.
* A/B testing is included from the entry Grow plan, where several rivals gate testing behind pricier tiers. Smart Traffic visitor routing and click and scroll heatmaps come one tier up on Optimize.
* It is more than a page builder now. You get full websites and blogs on a custom domain with free SSL, an embeddable Stripe checkout, lead enrichment, and more than 200 integrations to push leads to your CRM or email tool.
* It is cheaper than it was. The Grow list price has dropped, and a separate publishing-only product, HTML Pub, covers pages alone if you do not need the optimization tools.

##### What to watch

* Design control is the trade-off. Reviewers say the templates are limited and pages built on them look like every other Leadpages page, with little pixel-level control over styles. A brand with strict guidelines will fight the editor.
* The billing reputation is the real risk. Long-term reviewers report surprise annual auto-renewals, a cancel flow that does not always take effect, and refunds refused. Leadpages does not refund subscription payments, only future renewals, so its Trustpilot score sits far below its product ratings.
* No free plan, and the 7-day trial needs a card. You commit a payment method to try it and you are charged on day 7 unless you cancel first. Given the cancellation complaints, set a reminder.
* It has no funnel logic like ClickFunnels, and email is no longer built in since Drip became a separate company, so you still wire an email tool and a CRM alongside it.
* The price only makes sense if you use the conversion features. If you just want to publish a page it reads as expensive next to lighter builders. It pays off for a team that runs a new test every week.

### What they cost

Match the plans by what they unlock. Leadpages Grow and Instapage Optimize are the first plans on each side with A/B testing, so they are the fair pair. Instapage Create costs more than Grow and has no testing at all, so weigh it against a Leadpages publishing plan if pages are all you need.

The other pair is heatmaps. Leadpages puts them on its own Optimize plan with a published price. Instapage keeps them for Convert, where you talk to sales first.

| | Instapage | Leadpages |
| ------------------------- | --------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------- |
| Free trial | 14 days, cancel anytime | 7 days, card taken at signup |
| Plan without A/B tests | Create: $99/mo, or $79/mo yearly | Publishing-only plans |
| First plan with A/B tests | Optimize: $199/mo, or $159/mo yearly | Grow: $67/mo billed yearly |
| Heatmaps | Convert, custom quote | Optimize: $135/mo billed yearly |
| Traffic included | 15,000 visitors on Create, 30,000 on Optimize | No cap on any plan |
| Dynamic text replacement | Optimize and up | Grow and up |
| Lead enrichment | Not listed on the public plans | 1,000 a month on Grow |

Price both at the traffic you expect in your best month. A campaign that doubles its clicks costs the same on Leadpages. On Instapage it can mean a larger Optimize tier, so when you sign up, choose a visitor allowance with some room above your current traffic.

If you are not ready to test yet, the cheapest honest route on either side is a plan that only publishes pages. Move up when you have enough traffic for a split test to finish in a few weeks.

### A third option, if you run paid ads

Instapage and Leadpages both measure a campaign at the form or the button. If your ads sell something on the page, you also need the order, the upsell, the rebill and the refund tied back to the ad that paid for them, and neither builder keeps those on the same record as the click.

ElasticFunnels is a funnel platform for teams running paid traffic. The feature most teams come for is same-URL split testing: page variants rotate on the server under one campaign link, so Meta, Google and TikTok keep their learning and a new variant never sends the ad back through review. It also has an AI page builder that drafts a page from a prompt or clones one from a URL, a checkout with order bumps, one-click upsells and subscriptions, and a CRM with automations. All of them read one timeline of sessions, orders, rebills and refunds.

Every plan carries every feature. Starter is $97 a month, Growth $197 and Scale $497, and they differ by page views, brands, domains, seats and automation runs. Revenue through its own checkout carries a 0.5% fee. Set that against the page builder plus the checkout and analytics tools it would replace. A team that only collects leads gets more for its money from Instapage or Leadpages.

The drawback is a short public record. ElasticFunnels has been in development since 2023, so it is younger than both tools on this page, and there is little independent review coverage of its testing and attribution claims. Until real volume runs through it, you are mostly going on what the vendor says. Its 14-day trial asks for no card, which lets you run a same-URL test on your own traffic before you pay anything.

If you have to pick one of the two today, Leadpages is the safer default for the readers this site writes for: startups buying their own clicks and collecting leads. Testing starts on its lower plan, traffic is never counted, and lead enrichment comes with Grow. Watch the billing. Long-time customers report surprise renewals, and the trial takes a card.

Choose Instapage when several people build and approve pages together, when flicker-free tests and reusable Instablocks save real hours, and when your monthly visitors fit inside an Optimize tier. Agency buyers in PPC threads call it expensive and worth it for exactly that kind of work.

**My take.** I would decide on two numbers: how many people touch each page, and how many visitors a month your ads send. One or two editors and traffic that might spike point to Leadpages Grow. A team of editors with steady, predictable traffic is where Instapage Optimize earns its higher price.

Our default pick

### Leadpages

Leadpages is the pick if you need to publish and split-test high-converting landing pages fast, without a designer, and you will use the A/B testing and heatmaps you pay for. It is not for you if you want deep design control, a full funnel with email built in, or a free plan. And keep an eye on the billing.

### Frequently asked questions

Does Instapage include A/B testing on its cheapest plan?

No. Create leaves testing out. Split tests begin on Optimize, which also brings collaboration and dynamic text.

Does Leadpages limit how much traffic I can send?

No. Leadpages bills by plan features, so a month when your ads double their clicks costs the same as a quiet one.

Which trial is easier to start?

Instapage offers two weeks with no obligation. Leadpages offers a week and asks for a card up front, then charges on day seven unless you cancel.

Is Leadpages cheaper than Instapage?

For split testing, yes. Grow costs less than Optimize on yearly billing. Instapage Create is the closer price match, but it cannot run tests.

Which one has heatmaps?

Leadpages includes click and scroll heatmaps on its Optimize plan. Instapage reserves them for Convert, which is priced by quote.

When is ElasticFunnels a better choice than either?

When the ad leads to a purchase and you want the test, the order and any refund on one record. If all you need is a lead form, stay with Instapage or Leadpages.
