## Unbounce vs Instapage

Pick Unbounce for split tests on a lower tier. Pick Instapage when a team builds and approves ad pages together.

### Quick answer

Pick Unbounce if you want A/B testing and dynamic text replacement on a lower monthly tier and you are ready to add Smart Traffic on Optimize when spend justifies it; pick Instapage if several people build and approve ad pages together and you need server-side split tests, reusable Instablocks and collaboration on the Optimize plan.

You are choosing the page a Google or Meta ad lands on. Unbounce turns testing on at Experiment, with headlines that repeat the search term in the same tier and Smart Traffic one tier higher. Instapage turns testing on at its own Optimize plan, serves the split from its servers, and lets other people edit the same file.

### What you are really choosing between

Both products host the page, the form and the test. What separates them is who needs to edit the page, and whether Instapage handles the variant before the page loads.

On Unbounce, unlimited A/B tests start on Experiment. That is also the first standard plan that can place a keyword from the ad into the headline, without a separate URL for every query. Traffic can be split across variants, and the test reports confidence intervals. [Unbounce's pricing page](https://unbounce.com/pricing/) lists which plan includes each of those tools. Smart Traffic is the routing tool that sends each visitor to the variant more likely to convert. The same page calls it AI traffic optimization, and it starts on Unbounce Optimize, the tier above Experiment, with a higher visitor allowance and two more seats.

Instapage draws the line lower for publishing and higher for testing. Create already includes triggered popups and sticky bars. [The plans page](https://instapage.com/plans) lists unlimited pages, unlimited conversions and unlimited contacts on every plan. Create does not include A/B testing. On Instapage Optimize the test runs on the server: the page says you can test multiple variants with no flickering and change the traffic split with no page-load delay. Ad-matched headlines sit on that plan too. Instablocks are sections you save once and drop onto the next campaign. Real-time collaboration lets a media buyer, a designer and a client edit one page together. Heatmaps, and personalization that ties the ad to the page, are on Convert. Convert is sold by quote.

Unbounce's own [Unbounce vs Instapage article](https://unbounce.com/comparisons/unbounce-vs-instapage/) still says Instapage stops you at 30 landing pages. That line disagrees with the plans page, which lists unlimited pages on every plan.

The public threads land on that same split. In [one r/PPC thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/PPC/comments/1n4031q/does%5Fanyone%5Factually%5Fuse%5Finstapage%5For%5Funbounce/), a commenter said Instapage has the better templates. An [agency thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/PPC/comments/1sjj9o8/agencies%5Frunning%5Fppc%5Fwhat%5Flanding%5Fpage%5Fbuilders/) treats the higher price as acceptable for an agency workflow. A [third thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/PPC/comments/1jzqxf2/best%5Flanding%5Fpage%5Fbuilder%5Fplease%5Fhelp%5Fme/) says the price was raised to focus on enterprise buyers. The agency comment fits when several people work on every page. The enterprise-price comment fits when you work alone and the monthly bill is the problem.

The practical complaint about Instapage shows up when you add code from another tool. A [2025 Capterra review](https://www.capterra.com/p/132145/Instapage/reviews/) says the editor is good for ordinary pages, and code brought in from elsewhere gets complicated because of the way the page loads. On Unbounce, the matching complaint is already on the Unbounce review: extra work when a desktop layout is rebuilt for the phone. That limit is the mobile view. The tests on Experiment are still included.

Both products count unique visitors for the month. A campaign that outruns the allowance moves you to a larger tier. Unbounce also documents a one-time overage for that cycle when traffic passes the cap. Leadpages is the landing-page builder that does not meter traffic. If an uncapped bill would change this pick, read [Leadpages vs Unbounce](/compare/leadpages-vs-unbounce) and [Instapage vs Leadpages](/compare/instapage-vs-leadpages).

Switching means rebuilding the landing page. Checkout and the email list, if you use them, stay in the tools that already hold them. Unbounce's 14-day trial does not ask for a card, which is the simpler way to inspect the editor before you commit to Experiment.

### Where each one wins and loses

#### Unbounce

##### What works

* A mature no-code builder for campaign pages, forms, popups and sticky bars.
* Unlimited A/B tests and variants on the Experiment plan, with dynamic text replacement for keyword-matched pages.
* Smart Traffic on Optimize can route visitors to the variant most likely to convert.
* A 14-day trial requires no credit card, so you can inspect the editor before paying.

##### What to watch

* A/B testing starts on the Experiment plan and is missing from the two cheaper tiers.
* Plans cap monthly visitors, users and root domains, and overage fees can apply when traffic exceeds the limit.
* Critical reviewers report extra work when translating a desktop design to the mobile view.
* It builds campaign pages only, with no full checkout, email system or end-to-end sales funnel.

#### Instapage

##### What works

* Reviewers single out the visual editor. On G2, Beverly L. calls the WYSIWYG easy to use and says support replies immediately. In an r/PPC thread, u/titansfan777 preferred the templates.
* Optimize describes server-side A/B tests with no flickering, and a traffic split you can change without a page-load delay.
* Every plan lists unlimited published pages, unlimited conversions and unlimited contacts. The limit that changes between plans is the visitor count.
* Create already includes the drag-and-drop builder, Instablocks, popups and sticky bars, AI content, contacts and email, and programmatic Collections.

##### What to watch

* The help center says you get a notice in the account at 80 percent of the monthly allowance. Once you cross that threshold, the account may be locked, and repeat overages can take the pages offline.
* Create covers the landing page builder and lead capture. Server-side tests, dynamic text replacement, multi-step forms and scheduling are listed on Optimize.
* PPC threads describe a push toward enterprise quotes. u/xelan84 said the testing library, dynamic text replacement and full font set they were shown required a quote of about $2,000 a month. That figure comes from the commenter. Convert's public price is a custom quote.
* A 2025 Capterra review says standard pages are easy to build. Adding third-party code gets tricky because of how pages load. The product also has no hosted cart.

### What they cost

Judge the two products on the plan that can run a test. Unbounce calls that plan Experiment. Instapage calls it Optimize. Unbounce Build and Instapage Create sit under those plans. Both publish pages. A/B testing is on Experiment and on Instapage Optimize.

Experiment is $149 a month, or $112 if you pay yearly, with three users and two root domains. Instapage Optimize is $199 a month, or $159 yearly. Both include 30,000 visitors a month. Experiment adds unlimited A/B tests and headlines that repeat the ad keyword. Instapage Optimize adds the server-side test. Compare those two plans with each other. The extra monthly cost covers collaboration, Instablocks and a test that does not flicker.

Build and Create both list at $99 a month. Build is $74 on yearly billing, with 20,000 visitors, and popups, sticky bars and custom code start there. Create is $79 yearly, with 15,000 unique visitors, and popups and sticky bars are already on it. Create still publishes unlimited pages. The tighter limit on Create is the visitor allowance. Unbounce Starter sits below Build and does not include A/B tests. If you need split tests, start from Experiment or Instapage Optimize.

Paying yearly cuts the Unbounce price by 25% and the Instapage price by 20%. The visitor allowance on the plan stays the same.

| Trial | 14 days, no card | 14 days, Create and Optimize |
| Publish plan | Build | Create |
| Publish price | $99/mo, $74 yearly | $99/mo, $79 yearly |

| Popups | On Build | On Create |
| Testing plan | Experiment | Optimize |
| Testing price | $149/mo, $112 yearly | $199/mo, $159 yearly |
| Visitors | 30,000 | 30,000 |
| Server-side tests | Not listed | Yes, no flicker |
| AI routing | Smart Traffic, $249/mo | Not on the public plans |
| Editors | 3 users on Experiment | Collaboration on Optimize |
| Pages | Unlimited from Build | Unlimited on every plan |

Unbounce Optimize, at $249 a month or $187 yearly, is where Smart Traffic starts, with 50,000 visitors, five users and three root domains. That is a second decision, after you know Experiment is enough for ordinary splits. A bigger month on Instapage means a higher visitor tier. Heatmaps are on the custom Convert plan, which is sold by quote.

When traffic passes the cap, Unbounce bills a one-time overage for the cycle and keeps the page up. On Instapage, extra traffic means the next visitor tier.

I would pick Unbounce if you run your own Google or Meta campaigns and you need split tests before you pay for Instapage's testing plan. Experiment is the cheaper testing tier. Smart Traffic can wait until ad spend makes Unbounce Optimize worth the jump.

Instapage is the better fit when the bottleneck is production. Several people building and approving one page, sections reused through Instablocks, and a server-side test: that is what the higher testing tier is for. Agency buyers have called that workflow worth the money. Other buyers in the same forum describe the price as a shift toward enterprise accounts. The first report fits a team. The second applies when you are the only person in the account.

Our default pick

### Unbounce

Unbounce is a credible, established landing page platform for marketers who need campaign pages, A/B testing and traffic optimization without waiting on developers. It earns its keep when paid traffic makes testing valuable. The catch is that real experimentation starts on the Experiment plan, mobile layouts can require cleanup, and the visitor and domain limits make it poor value for a simple page or a low-traffic side project.

### Frequently asked questions

Does either $99 plan include A/B testing?

No. Unbounce Build and Instapage Create publish the page and include popups. Testing starts on Experiment, and on Instapage it starts on Optimize. Those are the testing rows in the cost table.

Which one runs server-side tests?

Instapage Optimize. Variants are served without a flicker, and the traffic split can change without waiting on a reload. Unbounce describes unlimited A/B tests, allocation and confidence intervals, and it reserves AI routing for the tier above Experiment. Server-side testing is not part of that writeup.

Which trial is easier to start?

Unbounce. Fourteen days, and the signup does not take a credit card. You choose which plan to inspect. Instapage offers fourteen days as well, on Create and on Optimize.

Is Instapage more expensive?

At the tier that includes tests, yes. Instapage Optimize lists above Unbounce Experiment. The two publish plans share a monthly list price, and Create's visitor allowance is the smaller one.

Does Instapage still limit you to 30 pages?

No. Every current plan lists unlimited pages, and the same grid leaves conversions and contacts uncapped. The figure of 30 still appears in Unbounce's marketing comparison, which has not caught up with Instapage's plans page.
