Methodology

## How we rank the tools.

Every ranking on Funnel Critic is built the same way. This page is the rubric, so you can check our work and tell us when it is wrong.

### We are a research desk

We do not run every tool through a live ad campaign, and we will not pretend we do. Instead we read the record: the long threads on Reddit, in communities and on review sites where operators describe a tool after months of real use, the vendor's own documentation and changelog, and the pricing page as it reads today. Then we confirm the prices with the vendor before we publish. If we ever run a tool ourselves for a piece, we will say so on that piece.

### What we judge

The same six things, in the order that tends to decide whether a team regrets a choice:

Pricing honesty

The real monthly cost at the plan you would actually need, plus the fees that hide below it: per-transaction cuts, overage rates, and the price of the next tier up.

Lock-in and portability

How hard it is to leave. What you can export, what you lose, and whether your pages, contacts and orders come with you.

Conversion features

The parts that make money: checkout, order bumps and upsells, split testing that does not reset your ad learning, and how pages actually build.

Reporting you can trust

What the tool counts as a conversion, how it reports ad spend, and where its numbers stop matching the ad platform's.

Support and reliability

What happens when something breaks during a launch, drawn from what long-term users report, not from a support-page promise.

Fit for the reader

Who a tool is genuinely the right call for. A great agency platform can be a poor first funnel, and we rank for the person reading the page.

### Why we rank in order, not scores

You will not find a 9.2 out of 10 here. A number invented for a tool has to be defended cell by cell, and it makes tools look comparable when they are not. We rank in a numbered order and give each tool one clear reason it earns its place, and one reason it might not be yours. That is a judgment a reader and a search engine can both use.

### Freshness

Prices and plans move. Every ranking and review carries the date its facts were checked, and a changelog of what we edited and when. We revisit the money pages at least once a quarter, and sooner when a vendor changes something that moves the order.

### Corrections

If we get a fact wrong, tell us and we will fix it and note the change. See our [editorial policy](/editorial-policy) for how corrections and independence work, and [how we make money](/how-we-make-money) for the commercial side.
