Head-to-head

ElasticFunnels vs Unbounce

Unbounce builds and tests campaign landing pages. ElasticFunnels carries paid traffic on through checkout and attribution. Which fits, on price and job.

Quick answer

Pick ElasticFunnels if you buy paid traffic and need the page, a same-URL split test, the checkout and attribution on one record so you can see which ad made money after refunds; pick Unbounce if you only need campaign landing pages, popups and forms in a mature builder and your checkout and email already live elsewhere.

Both tools build a page quickly and both can test it. The difference is where the job ends. Unbounce is a landing page builder for marketers and agencies, and its work stops at the conversion on the page: a form fill, a click, a call booked. ElasticFunnels is a funnel platform for teams running paid traffic, so the page is the first step of a path that runs through a hosted checkout with order bumps and one-click upsells, then on to rebills, refunds and the CRM.

If what you hand off after the page is a lead, Unbounce is the specialist. If it is an order you want to upsell and trace back to the ad, ElasticFunnels covers the steps Unbounce leaves to other software.

What you are really choosing between

Strip away the shared vocabulary of templates and A/B tests and the two products answer different questions.

Unbounce is a landing page builder for marketing teams and agencies. It has been in this category since 2009. Its drag-and-drop editor builds campaign pages, popups, sticky bars and forms without a developer. The Experiment plan adds unlimited A/B tests and dynamic text replacement, which swaps page copy to match the keyword a visitor searched. On Optimize, Smart Traffic sends each visitor to the variant most likely to convert for them. What Unbounce does not do is take the payment. A sale, an upsell or a subscription happens in a cart you connect to it.

ElasticFunnels is a funnel platform for teams that buy traffic: affiliates, product vendors, agencies and ecommerce brands. It builds pages too, with an AI builder that writes a page from a prompt or clones one from a URL. Its lead feature is same-URL split testing. Variants rotate on the server under the link your ad already points at, so Meta, Google and TikTok never see a new destination, keep their learning, and the ad is never sent back through review. Those tests share the checkout's data, so a variant can be scored on revenue, profit, EPC, AOV or CPA as well as conversion rate.

Behind the page sits a hosted checkout with order bumps, one-click upsells and subscriptions, with weighted routing of first sales across a merchant's NMI accounts. Orders, rebills and refunds land on one timeline next to a CRM, automations and a call center, which is how a click and the refund it led to end up on the same record.

So the fork is the conversion itself. A lead you pass to a sales team or an email tool suits Unbounce, the more mature product for exactly that. A paid sale you want to upsell, rebill and judge after refunds suits ElasticFunnels. Unbounce's age works in its favour here, with years of public reviews behind it. ElasticFunnels has been built since 2023 and has far less outside coverage, which the verdict below deals with directly.

Where each one wins and loses

ElasticFunnels

What works

  • It replaces the stack a paid-traffic team usually stitches together, a page builder, a checkout, a split-tester, a CRM and an analytics tool. A click, an order, a rebill and a refund land on one record, so nobody reconciles four exports to see which angle really made money.
  • Same-URL split testing is the reason most teams move to it. Variants rotate server-side under one campaign link, so Meta, Google and TikTok keep their learning and a test never sends the ad back through review.
  • Every feature is on every plan. The $97 Starter has the same split testing, checkout, CRM, call center and analytics as the $497 Scale; the plans only differ by traffic, brands and domains, so no feature is locked behind a higher tier.
  • The checkout is built for direct response: order bumps, one-click upsells, subscriptions and weighted routing across several merchant accounts, with the AI page builder able to write a page from a prompt or clone one from a URL.
  • Attribution ties each order, rebill and refund back to the ad, page and variant that produced it, so you judge each angle on its profit after the refunds land.

What to watch

  • It is newer, built since 2023, and there is very little independent review coverage to check its claims against. Until you run real volume through it you are largely taking the vendor's word for it. That is what you would expect of a platform this new, and the tools it competes with have years of public reviews behind them.
  • It is priced for teams already buying traffic. Starter is $97 a month, so a founder who only needs one simple page and no split testing will find cheaper, lighter tools a better fit for that narrower job.
  • There is a 0.5% fee on revenue taken through an ElasticFunnels-hosted checkout. At volume that is a real line item, though it never touches sales you run through networks like ClickBank or BuyGoods.
  • It is focused on paid traffic and direct response, so a pure content or SEO site will lean on its page builder and CRM more than on its split testing and multi-account checkout routing.

Unbounce

What works

  • A mature no-code builder for campaign pages, forms, popups and sticky bars.
  • Unlimited A/B tests and variants on the Experiment plan, with dynamic text replacement for keyword-matched pages.
  • Smart Traffic on Optimize can route visitors to the variant most likely to convert.
  • A 14-day trial requires no credit card, so you can inspect the editor before paying.

What to watch

  • A/B testing starts at $149 a month, not on the $29 or $99 plans.
  • Plans cap monthly visitors, users and root domains; overage fees can apply when traffic exceeds the limit.
  • Critical reviewers report extra work when translating a desktop design to the mobile view.
  • It builds campaign pages, not a full checkout, email system or end-to-end sales funnel.

What they cost

The entry prices sit far apart and buy different things, so compare the plan that does the job you need.

Unbounce has four plans. Starter is $29 a month, or $22 billed annually, and covers 5 pages and up to 500 visitors a month with no A/B testing. Build is $99. Experiment, at $149 a month or $112 annually, is where unlimited A/B testing, unlimited pages and dynamic text replacement begin, with up to 30,000 visitors, 3 users and 2 root domains. Optimize, at $249 a month or $187 annually, adds Smart Traffic and raises the cap to 50,000 visitors, 5 users and 3 root domains. Go past a traffic or conversion limit and the pages keep running, with the extra usage charged as a one-time overage fee.

ElasticFunnels has three plans: Starter at $97, Growth at $197 and Scale at $497 a month, or $937, $1,891 and $4,771 billed yearly. Every feature is on every plan, split testing and the checkout included. The plans differ by page views (50,000, 250,000 and 500,000 a month), brands, custom domains, team seats and automation runs. Extra page views bill from $1.20 per 1,000 on Starter, and bot, datacenter and test traffic is not counted. It also takes 0.5% of revenue through its own checkout gateways, and nothing on sales run through outside networks such as ClickBank or BuyGoods.

The fair match is Unbounce Experiment against ElasticFunnels Starter, since each is the cheapest plan on its side that lets you split-test a page. Experiment costs $149 for 30,000 visitors. Starter costs $97 for 50,000 page views and adds the checkout, CRM and attribution Unbounce leaves to other tools. One visitor can load several pages, so the two allowances are closer than the numbers look. Where Unbounce is plainly cheaper is a team that needs a handful of pages and no testing, for whom Starter at $29 or Build at $99 does the job.

Our default is ElasticFunnels, because most readers weighing these two are sending paid traffic to something they sell, and that job needs the checkout, the upsells and the attribution as much as the page. It also tests from its first plan, for less than Unbounce charges to unlock testing. The cost is track record. ElasticFunnels is much newer than Unbounce, and there is very little independent review coverage to check its claims against, so until you run real volume through it you are largely taking the vendor's word for it. That is the expected position for a platform built since 2023. The 14-day trial needs no card, so you can push one live campaign through the split testing and checkout and judge it on your own numbers before you move anything.

Override to Unbounce when the job is landing pages and lead capture alone, your traffic fits its visitor caps, and your CRM, email and checkout already work elsewhere. It is the more mature builder for that, with a large template library and Smart Traffic on Optimize. Budget for the plan that includes testing, and expect some cleanup on mobile layouts, which is the complaint long-term users raise most.

Our default pick

ElasticFunnels

ElasticFunnels is the pick if you run paid traffic and want your pages, split tests, checkout and attribution on one record, so you can see which ad actually made money. The catch is that it is new, with little independent review coverage yet, so you are trusting the vendor more than a long public track record.

Frequently asked questions

Can Unbounce replace a funnel platform?
Only for the page step. It has no hosted cart, upsells or subscriptions, so a sales funnel built on it needs a separate checkout and usually a separate CRM. ElasticFunnels keeps those on one account.
Which is better for Facebook and Google ads?
Both can sit behind an ad. Unbounce's dynamic text replacement suits search campaigns that match copy to keywords. ElasticFunnels holds the ad's URL fixed while variants change, which protects the platform's learning, and links each order to the ad that paid for it.
Does Unbounce's cheapest plan include A/B testing?
No. Starter and Build have none. Unlimited tests start on Experiment at $149 a month and Smart Traffic on Optimize at $249, while ElasticFunnels includes split testing on its $97 Starter.
Can I use ElasticFunnels just for landing pages?
Yes. The builder and split testing work without the checkout, and the 0.5% fee applies only to sales through its own gateways. A team that needs a few lead pages and nothing more will still pay less on Unbounce.
Is ElasticFunnels established enough to choose over Unbounce?
Unbounce has a long public record. ElasticFunnels has little independent coverage so far, and most of what is known about it comes from its own documentation. Both offer 14 days with no card, so treat a trial on real traffic as your evidence.
