Head-to-head

Stan Store vs Systeme.io

Stan Store turns your Instagram or TikTok bio into a store for a monthly fee. Systeme.io starts free with funnels, email and affiliates. Which one fits you?

Quick answer

Pick Stan Store if you sell mainly from an Instagram or TikTok bio and want automatic DM replies and a phone-first checkout from your first day; pick Systeme.io if you want to start on a permanent free plan and need email automation, sales funnels or your own affiliate program without paying for Stan's top tier.

Both take 0% of your sales, so fees will not settle it. Two things do: whether you can pay a subscription before anything sells, and whether you need the selling tools Stan keeps for Creator Pro.

Next step: Compare Systeme.io's plans in our pricing guide, from the no-cost tier up to Unlimited.

What you are really choosing between

Stan Store is a creator store that lives in your link-in-bio. Its homepage is built around one idea: courses, digital products and bookings hosted on the page your followers already tap, with a one-tap checkout. Systeme.io is a broad toolkit for small businesses, with funnels, email, courses, a website, a blog and affiliate tools in one login, starting on a plan that costs nothing and does not expire. For this page we read both vendors' pricing and help pages and long-running seller threads on Reddit. We did not sell a product through either one.

Stan's Creator plan covers the store itself. The plan comparison in Stan's help centre puts the storefront, bookings, courses, memberships, lead magnets, a community and Stan AutoDM on Creator. AutoDM answers Instagram messages for you, which suits a creator whose sales start in the comments.

The tools around the sale cost more on Stan. Order bumps, upsells, affiliate management, email broadcasts, email flows, funnels and pixel tracking are all listed under Creator Pro. A creator who wants to send a launch email or add an order bump to the checkout moves up a tier for it.

Systeme.io starts those at no cost. Its pricing page lists sales funnels, unlimited email sends, automation, a course, a custom domain, an affiliate program and a link-in-bio page on the free plan, with no card. Systeme.io's own Stan alternative page argues the same point, and since it is written to win Stan's customers, read it as a sales page. What the free tier caps is contacts, funnels and courses.

What sellers report. In Reddit threads from people selling their first digital product, commenters call Stan a natural fit for TikTok and Instagram bio traffic and send anyone with no budget to Systeme.io instead. The complaint about Systeme.io in those threads is the learning curve: it does more, and some beginners find it harder to work with than a single-purpose store.

Where each one wins and loses

Stan Store

What works

  • Your courses, digital products and bookings live inside your link-in-bio page, with a one-tap checkout made for buyers arriving on a phone.
  • The entry Creator plan already covers the storefront, bookings, courses, memberships, lead magnets and a community.
  • Stan AutoDM, on the Creator plan, answers Instagram messages automatically, so a follower who asks can get your product link without you typing it.
  • Stan takes 0% of your sales. You pay the subscription and the Stripe or PayPal processing fee, and nothing on top.

What to watch

  • There is no free plan. Billing starts when the 14-day trial ends, whether or not your first product has sold.
  • Order bumps, upsells, affiliate management, email broadcasts, email flows, funnels and pixel tracking all sit on Creator Pro, the top tier.
  • The store lives inside your link-in-bio page. A blog or a multi-page website is something Systeme.io lists on its plans and Stan's plan comparison does not.

Systeme.io

What works

  • The free plan is genuinely free and permanent: 2,000 contacts, three sales funnels, a course, a blog and unlimited email sends, with no card and no time limit. Most tools this broad charge from day one.
  • One login covers what a small business actually does: funnels, an email tool, a course, a simple website, a blog, a booking calendar and your own affiliate program, so you stop paying for and wiring together four separate tools.
  • Systeme.io charges no fee on your sales on any plan, including the free one. It takes nothing on top of Stripe or PayPal, which is rare among funnel platforms.
  • It is built to be simple. Reviewers consistently call the editor easy to learn, and a first funnel can go live in an hour from a template with no code or hosting to set up.
  • The paid tiers are cheap. Even the top self-serve plan costs less than the entry price of several single-purpose competitors.

What to watch

  • The page editor and templates are the trade-off. Reviewers describe the templates as functional but forgettable and the builder as limited next to dedicated page tools, so pixel-level design control is not here.
  • Split testing is basic. There are simple A/B tests on funnel pages, but nothing like the server-side or multivariate testing a serious paid-traffic team leans on.
  • Support is email and chat only, and reviewers report slow replies. One waited three days for an answer to an automation question, and others describe waits of 12 to 19 hours.
  • Everything is hosted on Systeme.io's servers, not your own, and the blog and SEO tooling is basic, so it is a weak fit for content-led sites and large ecommerce with complex inventory.
  • Email runs on shared IP infrastructure, which is fine for most senders but can become a ceiling at high monthly volumes.

What they cost

Stan has two plans and Systeme.io has four, and only Systeme.io's first one is free. Stan's pricing page offers a 14-day trial, then Creator or Creator Pro, with yearly billing cheaper on both. Systeme.io's paid tiers mostly raise the contact, funnel and course limits, and paying yearly saves two months.

Neither one takes a cut of your sales. Payment processing is still charged by Stripe or PayPal, and Stan's fee help page gives the US Stripe rate as 2.9% plus 30 cents per sale.

My take: before you pay for Creator Pro, write down which Pro features you would use in the next three months. If that list has email flows, affiliates or order bumps on it, Systeme.io's free plan or Startup already does them, and its Unlimited tier still comes in under Creator Pro. If the list is empty and your buyers come from your Instagram bio, Stan's Creator plan is the simpler store to run, and AutoDM is the part you are paying for.

Stan's trial lasts 14 days, so have one product ready to sell inside that window. Systeme.io's free tier has no end date, which lets you build slowly.

For a creator who wants a cheap way to sell, Systeme.io is the default between these two. You can build the store, the email list and a first funnel for nothing, and the features Stan holds back for its top tier come at no cost on Systeme.io. Expect a busier editor and plain templates. Beginners in seller threads say it takes longer to learn than a single-purpose store.

Choose Stan Store when nearly all your buyers arrive from an Instagram or TikTok bio, you want AutoDM to answer with your product link, and email flows or affiliates can wait. The Creator plan then does the one job you have, on the screen your buyers use.

Our default pick

Systeme.io

Systeme.io is the pick if you are a solo founder or creator who wants sales funnels, email and an online course in one place, free or cheap, and can live with plain templates and a basic page editor. It is not the tool for a team that needs fine control over page design, heavy A/B testing, or large-scale ecommerce.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stan Store cheaper than Systeme.io?
No. Systeme.io starts free and its first paid tier costs less than Stan's Creator plan. Even its top self-serve tier comes in slightly under Creator Pro.
Does either one take a cut of my sales?
Neither does. You pay the subscription plus whatever Stripe or PayPal charges to process each payment.
Can I sell on a free plan?
On Systeme.io, yes, and the plan does not expire. You upgrade when your contacts or funnels outgrow it. Stan gives you a trial and then a paid plan.
Which one is better for email marketing?
Systeme.io. It sends unlimited email with automation from the free tier, while Stan keeps broadcasts and email flows for Creator Pro.
Do I need Creator Pro to sell a course on Stan?
No, courses are on Creator. You move to Pro for the tools around the sale, such as upsells, email and affiliates.
