What each funnel tool takes from a sale

The monthly plan price leaves out the cut some platforms take from every sale.

Platform fees only, vendor pages read 16 October 2026

By Marta Ovalle, reviewed by Funnel Critic Editorial. Updated 16 October 2026.

A lower monthly plan can cost more than the next tier once the tool takes a percentage of sales.

Enter the month's gross sales and the number of orders. The table applies each published cut. It is an estimate for planning. The vendor's invoice is the bill you pay.

Calculate the cut

Whole orders, sales in US dollars. Leave a field blank and the form will ask you to fill it.

Change the plan and checkout assumptions

Defaults match the worked example: Kartra Essentials, Kajabi Basic on a third-party processor, and every sale on an ElasticFunnels checkout.

Kartra plan
Kajabi payment mode

Your estimate appears here after you calculate. The worked example further down uses $10,000 of sales and 200 orders if the script does not run.

How these amounts are calculated

Platform fees only. Subscriptions live on a different page.

Each rate comes from the vendor's own pricing or help page, read on 16 October 2026. Systeme.io, Kartra, Kartra's Essentials fee article, Kajabi, ClickFunnels, ElasticFunnels, GoHighLevel, Kit and Kit's Commerce FAQ are the pages behind the rates. Leadpages and Unbounce are included because buyers compare them with checkout tools, and neither publishes a platform sales fee.

The figure leaves out sales tax, refunds and chargebacks. Kartra's live Essentials invoice is net of refunds and chargebacks, and the form multiplies gross sales, so a month with refunds will be lower on the invoice than in this table. The form does not change Kajabi's surcharge by country.

Card processing is left out unless you check the Kajabi Payments box. That box adds the card rate Kajabi publishes for US entities. Stripe and PayPal rates for the other tools are not listed on these pages, so those rows show only the platform fee.

The monthly subscription is a separate bill. The funnel tool cost calculator picks a tier from contacts and traffic, and this fee table leaves that bill alone. The method for reading those pages is on our methodology page.

A month at $10,000 and 200 orders

About $50 an order. Kartra on Essentials, Kajabi Basic with a third-party processor, and every sale on an ElasticFunnels checkout.

Five bars of different heights on a pale ground, one of them teal and the tallest near black, plus an empty dashed slot where a sixth bar would stand.
Taller bars stand for a larger cut of the same month. The empty outline stands for a tool that has no checkout.
Tool Rate used Platform fee What the row means
ClickFunnels 0% $0 No percentage of sales, per its pricing FAQ.
GoHighLevel None published $0 No checkout percentage on the pricing FAQ. Usage for text, calls and AI is separate.
Leadpages None published $0 Stripe checkout can be embedded. No Leadpages sales fee is listed.
Systeme.io 0% $0 0% on every plan. Stripe or PayPal still charges its own processing rate.
ElasticFunnels 0.5% of hosted sales $50 Every sale in this example runs through its hosted checkout.
Kajabi Basic 2% third-party surcharge $200 Before the outside processor's own card rate.
Kit 3.5% + $0.30 $410 $350 from the percentage, plus $60 from 200 orders.
Kartra Essentials 5% of gross sales $500 The live invoice would be lower if you refunded any of those sales.
Unbounce No checkout n/a No native sales checkout on the pricing page.

Kit adds a fixed amount on every order, so splitting the same sales into more orders raises only that line.

My take

I would skip Kartra Essentials once monthly gross sales pass $1,200. Essentials is $59 a month and charges 5% of hosted sales. Starter is $119 a month and charges nothing on the sale. At that volume the 5% fee matches the $60 difference between the plans, and Starter costs less after that. Switch the form to Starter and the Essentials line in the table disappears.

What each fee actually covers

Each section below is the rate that vendor publishes. The table above is one month run through those rates.

Kajabi transaction fee

Kajabi's pricing page says it does not take a revenue share as a platform, and that you keep what you earn. Stripe, PayPal or Kajabi Payments still charge their own processing fee. Kajabi Payments lists 2.9% + $0.30 on Basic, 2.8% + $0.30 on Growth and 2.7% + $0.30 on Pro, for US entities. A third-party payment provider, other than PayPal and Kajabi Payments, adds 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth and 0.5% on Pro.

The form's third-party setting uses that add-on and stops there. The outside processor's own card rate is extra, and Kajabi does not publish it. Our Kajabi pricing and payment options page lists the plan prices.

Kartra transaction fee

Only the Essentials plan charges a transaction fee. Kartra's plans page lists that percentage on products hosted in Kartra, and Starter and above list none. The fee arrives on a monthly invoice. The support article starts from sales plus rebills, then subtracts refunds, chargebacks and partial refunds.

Refunds are not an input, so the Essentials row uses gross sales. Plan prices and contact limits are on the Kartra pricing and Essentials fee page.

Kit transaction fee

Kit, formerly ConvertKit, charges 3.5% + $0.30 on every digital sale in USD, on Free, Creator and Pro. Its Commerce FAQ says there is no monthly Commerce fee and nothing to pay until you make a sale. The same 3.5% + 30c line is on Kit's pricing table.

People who sell digital products with Kit pay that commerce line on every plan. Kartra vs Kit on fees and automations sets the commerce line next to Kartra's plan fee.

Systeme.io fees

Systeme.io lists 0% transaction fees on every plan and says you can accept Stripe or PayPal at no extra cost from Systeme.io. The card networks still charge their own rate. That processing rate is separate from the zero-fee row.

The remaining tools

ClickFunnels asks whether it takes a percentage of sales and answers no, with the line that you keep every penny you make.

GoHighLevel's pricing FAQ separates the subscription from usage-based telecom and AI charges. It does not list a percentage of checkout volume, so the table shows no platform cut. Text, calls and AI still bill on top of the subscription.

ElasticFunnels charges 0.5% only on revenue processed through its hosted checkouts. Sales through BuyGoods, ClickBank, Shopify or any third-party checkout are not charged. The share field is the percentage of monthly sales that use the hosted checkout. Plan limits are on the ElasticFunnels checkout fee page.

Leadpages offers an embeddable Stripe checkout and does not state a Leadpages transaction fee. Unbounce sells landing pages and forms, with no native sales checkout on the pricing page, so its row stays blank.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a platform fee and card processing?
The platform fee is money the funnel tool adds for using its checkout. Card processing is what moves the charge, through Stripe, PayPal or Kajabi Payments. The table is the first of those. The Kajabi tick is the only place a published card rate is added, and only for Kajabi Payments.
Does Unbounce charge a fee on sales?
Unbounce's pricing page describes landing pages and forms, and it does not list a checkout or a sales fee. A payment form you embed is priced by the company that runs that form.
Does Kajabi take a cut of what I sell?
Kajabi says the platform keeps no share of revenue. A surcharge shows up only when you connect a processor other than Kajabi Payments or PayPal, and that surcharge is smaller on Growth and Pro than on Basic. The percentages sit in the Kajabi section above.
Which Kartra plan adds a transaction fee?
Only Essentials. Starter and the plans above it list none. Kartra sends the Essentials charge on a monthly invoice, after refunds and chargebacks come off the sales.

Next, calculate the subscription in the funnel tool cost calculator. It uses list size and traffic, which this fee table leaves out.
