Head-to-head

Leadpages vs Wix

Wix gives you a whole website for free, landing pages included. Leadpages sells campaign pages with split tests and no traffic cap. Which job are you hiring for?

By Marta Ovalle, reviewed by Funnel Critic Editorial. Published 13 October 2026. We revisit this page every 90 days.

Quick answer

Pick Leadpages if you send paid traffic to a dedicated landing page and want split tests on that page with no cap on visitors; pick Wix if you want a free or low-cost business website under one login and your landing page is one more page on a site you already run there.

The two are hired for different jobs. Wix builds the whole website, with hosting, a CRM and email in the same account, and its landing pages live inside that site. Leadpages is a conversion tool for campaign pages: it charges for testing features and never counts your traffic.

My take. Decide what you are buying before you compare features. If the deliverable is your company's website, I would build it on Wix and add Leadpages only when an ad campaign needs Smart Traffic or heatmaps. If the deliverable is one campaign page that has to earn back its ad spend, I would start on Leadpages Grow.

Side by side

The two tools you are choosing between, plus one more worth knowing if you run paid ads.

ToolFree trialBest for
Leadpages 7 days, card required Standalone landing pages and lead capture, not a full funnel
Wix Free plan with no card; 14-day refund on the first Premium upgrade A whole business website, with landing pages under the same login
ElasticFunnels 14 days, no card Teams running paid traffic

What you are really choosing between

Both tools publish landing pages, and they are sold for different jobs. Wix is a website builder: its homepage sells AI site generation, hosting, a CRM, email marketing and ads in one account. Leadpages calls itself a conversion platform for landing pages, sites and blogs, and its pricing page charges for testing and lead tools. For this comparison we read both vendors' own pages. We did not run ad spend through either tool.

Wix starts free. Its landing page builder page says you can choose a template, add a form and publish without paying anything. The page lives on a Wix subdomain with Wix branding until you upgrade to Premium, and every form fill is saved in the CRM that comes with the site. The same page documents A/B testing, built-in analytics and Google Tag Manager for landing pages.

Leadpages starts at the campaign. There is no free plan, and the 7-day trial takes a card. In return, no plan caps your traffic or bills overage when a campaign takes off. Publishing-only plans put pages online without tests. Grow adds manual A/B testing, dynamic text replacement and 1,000 lead enrichments a month, and Optimize adds Smart Traffic and click and scroll heatmaps.

Wix itself argues for a separate page. Its landing page FAQ says paid traffic "should almost always go to a dedicated landing page, not your homepage." You can build that page on Wix, so the real decision is whether your campaign needs Leadpages' deeper testing or whether a page on the site you already pay for will do.

Where each one wins and loses

Leadpages

What works

  • You get a clean, mobile-ready landing page live in minutes. Reviewers with no coding background single out the drag-and-drop editor and the template library, and the new AI builder can draft a branded page from a prompt in about a minute.
  • Every Leadpages plan includes unlimited traffic with no visitor caps. Unbounce and Instapage both cap monthly visitors on their entry plans and charge more when a campaign works.
  • A/B testing is included from the entry Grow plan, where several rivals gate testing behind pricier tiers. Smart Traffic visitor routing and click and scroll heatmaps come one tier up on Optimize.
  • It is more than a page builder now. You get full websites and blogs on a custom domain with free SSL, an embeddable Stripe checkout, lead enrichment, and more than 200 integrations to push leads to your CRM or email tool.
  • It is cheaper than it was. The Grow list price has dropped, and a separate publishing-only product, HTML Pub, covers pages alone if you do not need the optimization tools.

What to watch

  • Design control is the trade-off. Reviewers say the templates are limited and pages built on them look like every other Leadpages page, with little pixel-level control over styles. A brand with strict guidelines will fight the editor.
  • The billing reputation is the real risk. Long-term reviewers report surprise annual auto-renewals, a cancel flow that does not always take effect, and refunds refused. Leadpages does not refund subscription payments, only future renewals, so its Trustpilot score sits far below its product ratings.
  • No free plan, and the 7-day trial needs a card. You commit a payment method to try it and you are charged on day 7 unless you cancel first. Given the cancellation complaints, set a reminder.
  • It has no funnel logic like ClickFunnels, and email is no longer built in since Drip became a separate company, so you still wire an email tool and a CRM alongside it.
  • The price only makes sense if you use the conversion features. For someone who just wants to publish a page, lighter builders cost less. It pays off for a team that runs a new test every week.

Wix

What works

  • You can sign up without a card, pick a landing page template, add a form and publish on the free plan.
  • One account holds the whole business: AI site generation, hosting, a CRM, email marketing and ads sit beside the website.
  • Every form fill on a Wix landing page goes straight into the built-in CRM, so a lead is ready for follow-up without a second tool.
  • Wix documents A/B testing, built-in analytics and Google Tag Manager for its landing pages, so you can compare two versions of a page without extra software.
  • The first upgrade to any Premium plan comes with a 14-day full refund.

What to watch

  • The free plan publishes on a Wix subdomain with Wix branding. Your own domain needs a Premium plan.
  • The 14-day refund covers only the first upgrade to Premium, so a later plan change does not get the same window.
  • The testing Wix describes for landing pages is a straight comparison of versions. Automatic traffic routing and heatmaps are things you would buy from a conversion tool such as Leadpages.
  • Wix plans are priced for the whole website, so a team that only wants one campaign page pays for hosting, a site editor and business apps it may not use.

What they cost

They bill for different things. Leadpages charges for the conversion features on campaign pages and never meters traffic. Wix charges for the plan your whole website runs on, and its free plan can already publish a landing page. Wix sets Premium prices by billing country, so the Light figure below is the annual price on its plans page and may differ where you are billed.

The fair pair depends on the job. For a page that only has to go live with a form, set the Wix free plan or Light against a Leadpages publishing-only plan. For a page you will split test, Grow is the first Leadpages plan with A/B tests.

RefundCancel before day 7, renewals not refunded once paidFull refund within 14 days of the first Premium upgrade

Start from the job, then look at the monthly price. A business that needs a website anyway already pays Wix, so a landing page there adds no new bill. A team buying clicks for one campaign pays Leadpages for the testing, and that bill stays flat in a month when the ads double their clicks.

The way in differs too. Leadpages charges on day 7, so set a reminder before then. On Wix you can build and publish for nothing and pay only when you want your own domain.

A third option, if you run paid ads

Wix and Leadpages both stop measuring at the form. If your ads send people to buy something, you also need the order, the upsell, the rebill and the refund traced back to the ad that paid for them, and neither tool keeps those on the same record as the click.

ElasticFunnels is a funnel platform for teams running paid traffic. Most teams come to it for same-URL split testing: variants rotate on the server under one campaign link, so Meta, Google and TikTok keep their learning and a new variant never sends the ad back to review. It also drafts pages with an AI builder from a prompt or clones one from a URL, hosts a checkout with order bumps, one-click upsells and subscriptions, and runs a CRM and automations on one timeline of sessions, orders, rebills and refunds.

Every feature is on every plan. Starter is $97 a month, Growth $197 and Scale $497, and the plans differ by page views, brands, domains, seats and automation runs. Revenue through its own checkout carries a 0.5% fee. A team that only collects leads will spend less on Leadpages or a Wix page and get what it needs.

Its weak point is a short public record. ElasticFunnels has been in development since 2023, so it is younger than both tools here, and little independent review coverage exists to check its testing and attribution claims against. Until real volume runs through it, you are mostly taking the vendor's word. The 14-day trial needs no card, which lets you run a same-URL test on your own traffic before you pay.

For the readers this site writes for, startups buying their own clicks, Leadpages is the default between these two when the job is a campaign page that has to convert. Tests start on Grow, traffic is never counted, and Smart Traffic and heatmaps sit one plan up. Watch the billing: the trial takes a card, and long-time customers report renewals they did not expect.

Choose Wix when the business already runs on it, or needs a website first, and the landing page is a simple page with a form. A page on the site you already pay for, with leads landing in the CRM you already use, is cheaper than a second subscription until the campaign needs more testing than Wix offers.

My take. I would ask whether this page is the business's front door or one ad's destination. Build the front door on Wix with the rest of the site, and move to Leadpages Grow once a single ad page is worth testing every week.

Our default pick

Leadpages

Leadpages is the pick if you need to publish and split-test high-converting landing pages fast, without a designer, and you will use the A/B testing and heatmaps you pay for. It is not for you if you want deep design control, a full funnel with email built in, or a free plan. And keep an eye on the billing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Wix only for a landing page?
Yes. The free plan publishes a single page with a form on a Wix subdomain, and a Premium plan puts it on your own domain.
Does Wix have A/B testing?
Yes, Wix lets you run two versions of a landing page and keep the one that converts better. Leadpages adds AI routing of visitors and heatmaps on its Optimize plan.
Can Leadpages replace my Wix site?
It can, since Leadpages also builds sites and blogs. You would lose the CRM and email that come with Wix and need to connect your own.
Which costs less for one campaign page?
Wix, if a free subdomain or the Premium site you already have will do. Leadpages costs more but gives you testing on Grow and never bills for a traffic spike.
When should I look at ElasticFunnels instead?
When the ad ends in a sale on your own checkout and you want the test, the order and any refund on one record. For lead forms alone, either tool on this page is the cheaper choice.
